Now, onto your recent edits. When creating pages, please follow the formatting for previous pages that are similar (ex. "Defeat 5 Enemies" instead of "5 Enemies Defeated") and make sure your spelling and punctuation matches what is used in-game (ex. "King Alaric" instead of "king alaric"). Also, I have noticed that on your user page and clan page, you have made a large amount of edits within a very short amount of time without any significant change between them. For example, on January 29, 2012, you made 13 edits on your user page within 1 hour with barely any differenced between them other than fixing something that did not work the first time. The same applies for your clan page, where you made 12 edits within 1 hour. For next time, please use the "Show Preview" button (beside the Save Page button) to check your changes before saving the page. If you are sure that the page looks right and you are satisfied with the preview, then save the page. Failure to do so may result in a ban, as not doing this builds up spam on the Wiki and creates more stress on our servers.

Sellback

RE: Sell back for Rusted and Broken items

Currently, the weapons template is coded for Sellback = CredPrice * 0.5 and VarPrice * 0.15, which is the correct amount for the majority of items. The only exception to this would be for broken and rusted items, where it would be significantly less at 15% and 30%, respectively. The template currently is not coded to fit this, and I am unsure how to actually modify the template as a ParserFunction within a ParserFunction does not seem to work. For now, the temporary fix would be to put the correct sellback in the notes section with the line * This item sells for x credits.

RE: Mission Deletion

Users are unable to delete pages; it is a privilege given only to administrators of the wiki. If a page violates the rules, you mark the page up for deletion with the Delete Template. If this case of a mistake with the title of the page, you can simply move it to the correct page name, as 8x has done. All users should be able to move pages and to do so, you need to click the "Move" button in the drop down menu beside the "View History" button.

Mission Image Uploads

Hey SoUL PrIsNER,

When uploading images that are already linked to on their respective page, please click on the red link on the page and upload the image link that instead of uploading the image, then editing the page again to rename the image. If the image cannot be uploaded, re-save the image as a .png (not .PNG) and try again. Also be sure to crop the image to the nearest 5th pixel as all content images must be cropped as so.

It only says to leave armor pages with a level in the name alone. It is a set restriction and if you look at it logically, it says nothing for other armor pages so it doesn't apply. You have to looks for any other restrictions, if any. Also the lowest possible price should be listed for everything, purchase, sellback, credit or varium (essentially no added damage nor stats)

It is at 39% because White Tiger haven't upload a new image yet. If all weapons have been updated with the new template it should be at 50%. The last 50% includes the correct rarity scores, correct prices, missing rare tags, missing events and any mistakes that we will have to fix our selfs.

Any intentional changes made to the wiki will be announced either on the main page or via our twitter account. The change to the sidebar was not intentional and was likely something that broke when the wiki was updated yesterday.

Of course you are allowed to alphabetize those. We haven't started on them yet because right now they are low priority. If you decide to alphabetize them keep in mind that new weapons need to be added, some items are missing rare tags and varium tags should be removed. Also promo tags should be removed from tactical, veteran and advanced battlegear weapon and starter pack weapons.

RE: AE Sketchbook

We've know about the names for quite some time now but other than that, nothing else is know about the items. Since equipment no longer has preset stats or damage, the image is 50% of the the page and a page should only be created if 90% of the content is present. All the item finder can tell you is the name of the item and what type of rarity it is (Rare Promotion), but as seen with past promotions they often have hidden varium prices which results in a unique rarity score. There is literally no information on the items at this time, let alone 90% of the required information so the pages will not be created.

Hey,

My intentions were not to hurt you or to discourage you from editing. Official warnings through the block system is my workaround to not actually having a warnings log to record everything down and does not represent an actual block. In fact, I didn't even know you received the block notification since it expired in the shortest time possible.

I can not stress this enough, to always ask the wiki staff members for any help, assistance, guidance, etc.. they need, even if it's as simple as asking where the edit button is. You can even see it with my more recent announcements, stressing the fact that if we're here if you encounter any problems. I tried telling people their problems after the 'damage' has been done in the past, but I found that they would always do wrong first instead of asking so I had to switch to different methods and that is why I did not actually tell you what you did wrong. I know I don't always reply to the messages on my talk page, but that's because the time zone differences means I often get ninja'd before I even see the message.

What you wrote in your message and what you actually did were not the same. I always start with the earlier edits, so the first thing that I saw was "Defeat any of the following NPCs 10 times:", then again "Defeat any of the following NPCs 15 times:", and again "Defeat any of the following NPCs 15 times:". I know that may have been the formatting previously, but that's why I was going through the pages and fixing them to be as consistent as we can. I know not adding in the word "challenge" may seem like a minor mistake, and it actually is, but it's the smallest things that get you. Since it's a small error, I can't simply revert it nor delete the page because that would be going overboard, instead the staff has to go through all the edits and fix all the things that were wrong. This is exactly what happened with the omega release editing (granted the instructions could have been a bit clearer, but I went in to this blind like everyone else) and it's also why I decided to leave the rest of the work to staff members only. Organization is key and without it, we'd be hopelessly lost wasting time trying to find everything that was missed.

Before Ashari, consistency and quality were not of up most importance, or of any importance at all. I will admit I had a pretty difficult time adjusting to her ways but I realized that what she did was for the overall good of the wiki. Before becoming official, quality was the only thing we could have over the official AE wikdots/encyclopedias and I'm sure users appreciated well made pages consistent with others compared to poorly made pages that had a different wording for each page. If we were to revert back and forget quality and consistency, I feel it would be a stab in the back to her efforts.

When I first started back on the AQW Wiki, I did make many mistakes but quality isn't as valued as it is here and that is the main reason why the staff didn't come down on me for it. I only come down on quality because it only creates more work for us. Trust me when I say that I didn't receive all thumbs up from the users I came down on when I was a sysop there and you might not be able to see it now, but I received my fair share of hate back then.

When I first started on this wiki, I transferred from the AQW Wiki to help start it up and most of the people here were all friends that I have known there. No users receive any special treatment whether they're first or last, it's just that our values have changed and so have the rules. We didn't do warnings back then and rarely did we ever give out bans for something other than mass destruction of the wiki. On the flip side, we also had less visitors, less contributors, less pages, less categories, and as a result little desire to actually get everything out the second it was released. Now we have tons more to do and less time to do them in. I know the ED team doesn't put any deadlines on us but whenever the content is late, I'm the one people come down on the most, along with the other staff. People often incorrectly assume that because we're "staff of the official wiki", we get all powerful visions in to the future and that's why we're so fast and we have all the time to pretty things up. In reality, we have little connection to the devs and we don't get 'insider information' or stuff like that. I was taught to make do with what we have, to get the most out of it and that's what I've been doing for the past few years. If there are no distinguishable routes, Ashari would always make her own and find her own way, but that requires a ton more time than you'd expect. For years I've been trying to create something from nothing and it really catches up to you, which is why I haven't been pushing for new things lately. In fact, Thylek once asked my if we were getting insider info from the devs since we did things so fast and so well, and that is by far one of the best compliments I've every received because it was unintentional yet hit home. If you don't like me you won't have to worry for long though, SMGS and Mecha already have access to the dev server and I'm hoping 8x will soon, so I'm going to let them run the wiki in order to achieve maximum efficiency.

This isn't an easy job with no fame or glory so only people that actually want to help for the sake of helping actually come. I'm in no way, shape or form trying to scare away any contributors we may still have but you should also see it my way and how the littlest imperfections ruins what we think is a pretty good reputation. I hope you read all this, it took me over an hour to write, I know it's enormous but when it comes to the wiki (something I've been with since the start for over 4 years now) I've made a connection, which causes me to write a lot. I'm not going to write a tl;dr since I feel it's better if you read most, if not all, of these paragraphs.

Like I said, I don't care about the dashes, spaces, capitals, etc.. as long as you're consistent with what is put on the page and what is uploaded. I only told you because on the page it was MegaPhotograher.png whereas you uploaded Mega-Photographer.png, which requires an extra edit. I also gave a special achievement (Lore Master) as an example that doesn't have a dash and I'm certain there's another special achievement page that has something other than a dash. We don't have any formatting for image name because it's not something people usually see. There's no point in moving an image once it's uploaded to fix a dash, then change the link on the page to reflect that which is why 8x just used the "Upload a new version of this file", like all people should.

Rare Tags

Hey,

I'm on a mobile device right now so I had to give a temporary block in order to give me some time to write this message. You are improperly using the rare tag on pages. On individual content pages, it is not used to represent whether the item, mission, NPC, etc... is rare or not. Instead, it is only used to show that the item, mission or NPC left before the page did, if that makes any sense. For example, if Item A was rewarded from Mission A, then Mission A was removed from the game and Mission B was added to reward Item A, then on the page for Item A, the Mission A link would have a rare tag beside it. The Mission A page would only have the rare banner on it. If Item A and Mission B then both left at the same time, then there will be no further rare tags and there would only be rare banners on both pages. This concept applies to all and any content pages (excl. category listings) that uses both the rare banner and rare tag.

We added a limited rare tag so that we can use it for non-rare limited armors. Once the armor is removed from the game the rare tag should be added.

The Seasonal-Rare and Limited tags on the pages can be added immediately, because the descriptions don't state that the item will never be available again.

Azrael's Spirit is not in the game anymore, while the new limited items are still in the game. If Azrael's Spirit had rare tag before the release it was probably put there by mistake.

"Weapon Details" is not really there for a description. It is like a title, and "Damage Type:" and "Equipment Type:" are the actual weapon details.

I removed seasonal rare tags from the weapons in The Endless's Inventory, because we don't know if they are part of the Easter event. They could even stay in-game for ever, like War Bot Armor and other limited rares like it. Never mind, I misunderstood. I didn't realize that Valentine's Day rares weren't rare until I noticed the Alydroid in Fortune City and I forgot to remove rare tags from those weapons. Oh, well I guess then I didn't misunderstand the question. Read the first part of my reply.

RE: Rare Tags

No, on all pages except for the listing pages, the rare tag is used to show that it left BEFORE. For example, the "Hamburger" item is a reward from the "Restaurant" mission and the "Diner" mission. If the "Hamburger" item left on April 5th, the "Restaurant" mission left on April 5th and the "Diner" mission left on March 29th, then you would ONLY use the rare tag on the page for "Hamburger" to show that the "Diner" mission left BEFORE the "Hamburger" item did. There will be no rare tags on the "Diner" page because the "Hamburger" item left after it did. There will be no rare tags on the "Restaurant" or "Hamburger" pages because they left at the same time. All pages will have a rare banner though, because that shows the item has left the game.

You see, this is why signing talk page messages is so important. He actually sent the message to you a minute after he sent it to me, and a minute before I sent the message to him. Without the signature, you can only see the timestamp in historical logs such as history or recent changes.

I think that it does help a bit, but the images stay in the database/memory so that we can recover them at any time if we need to. I may not be the best person to answer questions like this, If you would like to get more detailed answers you should ask Al Gilman on the lore forum.

Just to add to the discussion here, one of the benefits to running a wiki is the fact that the history serves useful for historical purposes. I've found it useful one time or another, wiping that clean would not be the best move.

RE:Helping or mini-moding?

Answering either of Techreus's questions would be considered helping instead of mini-modding. If you take a look at the hover text from the question mark, it tells you that we consider mini-modding the act of informing a user that a rule may or may not have been broken. An easy way to tell if you're mini-modding or not is whether you have to reference a rule or not. Referencing the editing guidelines is a grey area with mini-modding and can be permitted or not permitted depending on the context and tone of text where it is used.
