Rarity

The Rarity of an item shows its availability. Certain items are difficult to come by as they are offered in limited quantities or for limited durations.

[edit]
  • Seasonal Rare: These items are usually only offered once annually and are associated with a seasonal event, such as a holiday. Seasonal item return dates can be found here. Some Arcade prizes are also marked Seasonal but are available year-round.
  • Limited Rare: These items are usually offered with fixed quantities at particular merchants. When the quantities run out, these items are no longer available until the next restock. Restocks occur automatically in roughly 28 day intervals. The time until the next restock can be checked at certain NPCs. Limited Rare items can also be Seasonal, but the Limited tag takes precedence. Limited-Seasonal items are NOT restocked by the automatic restock system. A list of permamently available Limited Rares can be found here.
  • Rare: These items are offered for a limited time and may never be released again. Rare items typically include seasonal event items that will not return again, certain Promotional Package items, and all War prizes. Some mission rewards and NPC battle drops are also marked Rare but they may return again or are always available; the Rare tag in this case is simply an indication that these items are very difficult to obtain.
  • Legendary: These items are only available to players that have reached level 40 and are sold at the Legendary Arsenal, Exquisite Legendary Arsenal, and Epic Legendary Arsenal.
  • Ultra Rare: These items are similar to Rare items but are even more valuable. This tag is reserved only for extremely exclusive items including the legacy items (Founder, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Omega, and anniversary items), any item obtained from prize codes that were given by the developers of EpicDuel, and special items given manually to certain players by the developers such as Gifting leaderboard prizes.

Every item with a rarity tag has a rarity score. The rarity score of each item in your inventory and bank is summed to give your character's Inventory Rarity. Inventory Rarity can be appraised by Charfade, Naomi, Junker, Zedmyr, Cinderella, Snork, The Lawman and Slayer for 500 Credits (your score does not update automatically). There is an all-time leaderboard that displays the top 20 players with highest Inventory Rarity. In addition, having a high rarity score will upgrade your Archivist achievement.

The category of rarity determines the rarity score of an item. If you posses duplicates of rare items, only the rarity score from one of them will be counted. Skill cores with rarity scores are only counted if they are in your inventory, not equipped to a weapon. Scoring, from least to most, according to category is: seasonal rare < limited rare < legendary = rare < ultra rare. The item's Varium price is also factored into its rarity score.

[Formula] Rarity Score = (550 * Rarity Value) + (0.7 * Varium Value)

[Variable] Rarity Value: Seasonal Rare = 1, Limited Rare = 2, Legendary = 3, Rare = 3, Ultra Rare = 4

[Variable] Varium Value = Varium Spent Purchasing Item + Varium Spent on Equipped Skill Cores + (# of Additional Damage Upgrades Purchased * 25) + (# of Additional Armor Points Purchased * 55) + (# of Additional Stat Upgrades Purchased * 10)
Note: Equipped skill cores, damage upgrades, and stat upgrades purchased with credits will not count towards the Varium Value of an item.

Example 1: You purchase Azrael for 10000 credits. You then purchase 22 damage and 10 stats using varium.
[Variable] Rarity Value = 1
[Variable] Varium Value = 0 + (0 * 495) + (0 * 55) + (22 * 25) + (10 * 10)
[Formula] Rarity Score = (550 * 1) + (0.7 * 650)
[Formula] Rarity Score = 1005

Example 2: You purchase Azrael for 195 varium. You then purchase 15 damage and 5 stats using credits.
[Variable] Rarity Value = 1
[Variable] Varium Value = 195 + (0 * 495) + (0 * 55) + (0 * 25) + (0 * 10)
[Formula] Rarity Score = (550 * 1) + (0.7 * 195)
[Formula] Rarity Score = 686.5 -> 687

Example 3: You purchase Dage's Skull Boomstick for 345 varium. You then purchase 5 damage and 3 stats using varium. You also purchase 1 skill core, 6 damage and 7 stats using credits.
[Variable] Rarity Value = 2
[Variable] Varium Value = 345 + (0 * 495) + (0 * 55) + (5 * 25) + (3 * 10)
[Formula] Rarity Score = (550 * 2) + (0.7 * 500)
[Formula] Rarity Score = 1450

Example 4: You purchase Demonic Heartbreaker for 375 varium. You then purchase 1 passive skill core, 1 active skill core, 6 damage and 8 stats using varium.
[Variable] Rarity Value = 2
[Variable] Varium Value = 375 + (2 * 495) + (0 * 55) + (6 * 25) + (8 * 10)
[Formula] Rarity Score = (550 * 2) + (0.7 * 1595)
[Formula] Rarity Score = 2216.5 -> 2217

Example 5: You purchase Beast Rider M for 595 varium. You then purchase 8 armor points and 8 stats using varium.
[Variable] Rarity Value = 1
[Variable] Varium Value = 595 + (0 * 495) + (8 * 55) + (0 * 25) + (8 * 10)
[Formula] Rarity Score = (550 * 1) + (0.7 * 1115)
[Formula] Rarity Score = 1330.5 -> 1331
